Here are the detailed instructions on how you can sync your iphone / ipod touch with google / gmail / google calendar / google contacts
after doing this you will have all your google contacts on your iphone, and all your google calendars on your iphone (or your ipod touch) – any changed you make on google, or on your iphone will be ’saved’ to your google contacts / calendar.
- on your iphone, or ipod touch, goto settings > mail > add
- hit microsoft exchange (trust me, it works)
- under email and username, put in your gmail address
- dont put anything under domain
- hit the next button at the top
- I had to accept a certificate
- under server put m.google.com
- hit next again
- turn off mail.
- turn on contacts and calendars
- hit done
- then sync.
- enable push under settings > fetch new data
you dont need anything turned on in itunes for the sync.- the final step is to go to m.google.com/sync in your iphone or ipod touch’s safari, login, select your iphone / ipod touch and then pick the calendars you want to sync =)
you will now have your google calendars on your iphone / ipod touch, and you will have all your contact aswell! -
please see this post for details on how to get your google calendar synced to your ical on your mac
and this post on how to sync your addressbook with your google contacts
If you have done all this then you will have the same list of contacts on your mac, on your iphone, and on your google contacts. you will also have the same calendars. any change, or addition you make on any device will show up in all the others
