Ive been using google plus a lot more recently.
I think facebook has become overburdened with marketeering.

one thing that I did notice however was that I was being bombarded with notifications (like Facebook does by default too)

if someone replied to a comment that I made then id get a push notification to my ipad, another to my iphone, and an email – which beeps on all my devices (thats 5 notifications for one event!)

there is a way to turn it all off though:

in google plus, go to settings
then untick everything under the notifications [and also turn the push notifications off!]
