a rundown on some productivity apps that I use with my iphone

first and foremost, i use google a lot. i have my iphone set to sync all my contacts and calendars with google calendar and contacts

you can also sync the notes from notes.app with your gmail account

evernote is an excellent way to take notes and have them synced across devices

teamviewer is an excellent app that allows you to log in to any windows linux or mac

basecamp is an excellent tool for project management, and you can sync your basecamp calendar to your iphone calendar too

how to add a new contact from a sms text message on iphone

i tried to add a new contact from an sms message in my iphone, it was not obvious at first jow to do it.

what you have to do is:

scroll to the very first message from that contact.
you will see an ‘add to contacts’ button.
you can then add the number to a new or existing contact!

how to delete gmail mail from iphone mail.app

this post will show you how to delete mail in your gmail account from the mail.app in your iphone or ipad without archiving it.

1) make sure your iphone or ipad is setup to get your google mail using exchange

2) goto m.google.com/sync in safari on your iphone or ipad
3) click on your device in the list on that page
4) tick ‘enable delete email as trash for this device’
5) click save

you are now done :D
mails that you delete on your ipad or iphone will now be deleted from gmail, rather than archived!

google plus for iphone

the google plus app for iphone has been updated.

now, rather than being just a wrapper to the mobile web version, it a native iphone app.

it looks really good, and isnt slow any more!!

how to move app icons on ipad or iphone

this post will show you how to move the apps arround on your iphone or ipad, and how to put apps into folders.

to move apps around, tap and hold on an apps icon. all the icons will start to wiggle. once they are wiggling you can delete apps by tapping the x. you can also move the apps by dragging them.

if you drag one icon onto another then you can create a folder :)

this post will show you how to quit running apps on your iphone or ipad.

first, make sure you are on the home screen (press the home button)

next, open the running apps task switcher (double click the home button)

next, tap and hold on any of the icons. you will notice a small, red, minus symbol. tap on the minus symbol to quit the app.

reeder is the app i use the most on my iphone and my ipad.
its an rss reader. it syncs with your google reader account.

you can view starred items and you can star items too.

thats it. its very simple.
why do i use it so much?
i use it because it works perfectly. it delivers my news feeds to my iphone and my ipad, and marks them as read in google so that i dont have to re-read the same news items over and over.
its interface is also excellent.
