Basecamp is a great way to keep track of lots of things in your projects. You can use it as a to-do list, you can use it as a way for your clients to submit change requests, you can reply in-line to their requests asking for more information, etc – you can also just reply to email that basecamp sends to you informing you of changes and basecamp will add the replies itsself, keeping everything in a central location!

For each item that gets added to basecamp you can also set a deadline. If you use the deadline features then you can also set milestones :)

Milestones are great, especially if you have them in your calendar on your phone (and its great when things change and you know as they change because you can see it in your phone)!

Setting up Basecamp calendar in iphone

• goto http://yoururl.basecamphq.com in your iphone
• scroll to the bottom, click ‘switch to standard version’
• scroll to the bottom again
• click on the ‘Global iCalendar’
• click on ‘subscribe’ when the popup comes.

Now in your calendar app you will see your basecamp calendar. This is the calendar with all the milestones for all the projects. You can subscribe to the same calendar in outlook or ical by doing the same thing on your pc or mac – This way you can stay up to date if any member of the project changes any of the settings, or adds anything to the milestones, or extends deadlines, or reduces deadlines – all in all its a great way to keep up with the happenings of your projects without having to spend hours managing information from multiple sources.
