If you have an apple tv and a mac and use the same remote to control them both you might notice that your mac starts to do things (like play songs from itunes) when you are trying to control your apple tv.

this short post will show you how to stop your apple tv remote from making your mac do things when you dont want it to!

• go to system preferences -> security
• tick ‘disable remote control infra red receiver’
• enjoy =)

now that you have disabled the remote from your mac it does mean that you cant use the remote to control your mac, so if you require remote control of your mac you will have to re-enable it when needed.

the plus side is that random music doesnt start playing seemingly at random :)
