West Highland Way Day 2 – Drymen to Rowardennan (almost)

West Highland Way Day 2 – Drymen to Rowardennan (almost). Today we got up early, packed the tent and walked along the West Highland Way into drymen. We got breakfast (croissants with cheese and ham) and coffee in a wee shop, then headed off on our walk.

Through a forrest and up a hill, we could see a mountain the whole time. Soon we were at the bottom, though we couldnt see the top, it was in the clouds. Up and up we trekked, still no summit. The weather closed in, and we donned the poncho. Further upwards we hiked, till the bottom was a distant memory, before long we couldn’t see either the bottom or the top. Yet still it rained. Onwards, and upwards into the rain and fog, then suddenly the path leveled out and we started down the far side.

After a quick stop to eat a pork pie we decended past the tree line and into a forrest, then eventually came to the oak tree inn, where burgers and beer were promptly ordered. I ordered a burger with haggis and whisky sauce and a pint of southern summit (which we had at the glasgow ale festival a couple of weeks ago). Zoe had mince and tatties.

After we had a tea and a coffee I went to the shop next door for a mars bar, some crisps for zoe, 20 bensons and a wee glass bottle of ginger beer. we continued on to cashel campsite, just in time for the rain. tent up, tarp out, midgies out too :|

We went for a shower after the tent and the tarp were up, my phone has no battery left, Zoes still has 50% battery, my ipad, 96.

Zoe had some pickled onion space raiders and we had a whisky with gingerbeer, then crashed out.
