Why not to buy akg k330 wasp headphones

About 7 months ago I bought a pair of headphones for my ipod touch. they were decent in-ear ones – akg k330, they cost about £45.

after 3 months one of the earphones ‘fizzled’ out. it was the tiny speaker.

i got them from amazon, so I sent a mail and they sent me out another pair. just in time, as I was on the train home from work the other ear did the same, just fizzled out. no problem, I thought, new ones are on the way – it must just be a dodgy pair.

fast forward almost exactly the same time, but with a second pair of the same headphones. the left ear went yesterday. I know its about a week and a half till the second ear goes.

point of advice: dont buy these. I now need to find another pair of decent headphones. if these ones worked they would be fantastic – the sound quality is excellent, but the build quality is severely lacking.
i had a pair of shure in-ear headphones before these, which lasted about 5 years. think ill get another set of them.

    Hey,
Im planing to buy these headphones, but now after I read your complain, i do hesitate.
Before that I had Shure E2C, the cable isolation is too stiff, so in winter is breaking, because of low temperatures.

    Need to hear your opinion.
    Best regards

      Hi Rado,

I own AKG K330 – bought two years ago.Never used it. After two years I opened the package and started to use it. After two days of use, right earphone got broken. Not cable, rather earphone, or connection to earphone. Harman Group often release products with design faults. Do not buy K330.

I started a communication with HARMAN PRO support. I bought these earphones in Germany during my business trip back in 2009. Since I bought it abroad, I didn’t keep receipt, neither warranty card. When I explained situation to german support, they wrote me, that they will solve the situation with support company in Slovakia and arrange things in that way, that I can listen to AKG headphones again :) That’s more than I expected.
I have to say, that K330 have really great sound – speaking as active musician, who owns professional grade in-ear monitors, so I can make some comparisons. The only problem for me was, that one driver stopped to work. With such a support from the Harman, you don’t have to be worry. So I’m correcting my previous post… ;)
