Einstok Icelandic White Ale

Einstök’s White Ale takes the Icelandic brewery’s Arctic-water brewing philosophy and applies it to the witbier style — a Belgian-inspired wheat beer that’s been a staple of craft brewing for decades. The style originated in Flemish Belgium and traditionally uses unmalted wheat, orange peel, and coriander to create something hazy, citrusy, and refreshing. Tasting Notes

It pours a hazy pale straw colour with a fluffy white head — exactly what you want from the style. The nose is immediately appealing: orange peel, coriander, fresh wheat, and a faint spicy yeast character. On the palate it’s light-bodied and softly carbonated, with citrus and spice upfront, a gentle wheat sweetness in the middle, and a clean, refreshing finish. It’s 4.8% ABV, which keeps it sessionable and easy-drinking.

Verdict

Serve in a tall wheat beer glass with a slice of orange if you’re feeling fancy, though it’s equally good straight from a cold glass. Einstök White Ale is exactly the kind of beer you reach for on a hot day when you want flavour and refreshment in equal measure.
