About Me

I’m Jonathan Mitchell – a software engineer with 20+ years of experience, an engineering leader for over a decade, and CTO at various companies since 2019. I’m the founder of Born Creative, where I design and build complex SaaS platforms, cloud architecture, and AI systems.

I’m a Chartered IT Professional (CITP) and a professional member of the British Computer Society (MBCS). I hold an MSc in Advanced Computer Systems Development (with Distinction) and a BSc in Electronic Engineering — and was awarded the University Court Medal for excellence twice, in both my PGDIP and MSc years. I’m also a Certified Scrum Master and ILM Certified in Managing People for Growth.

Before going independent, I spent 12 years as Head of Technology at Adeo Group in Glasgow, delivering over 1,000 client sites across multiple verticals and helping several clients reach seven-figure annual turnovers. I was responsible for the full technology function – development teams, DevOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, security, integrations, and architecture decisions across the entire product range.

I’ve co-founded and built a cybersecurity startup, and my work spans everything from early-stage product development to enterprise-scale engineering leadership.

On the technical side, I work across the full stack and into the cloud — building and deploying on Azure, including Azure AI Foundry for LLM-powered applications, with fully automated CI/CD pipelines from commit to production. Day to day I work in PHP, Python, React and Next.js, and I have a background in C and C++ from my engineering days that still comes in handy closer to the metal.

I’m proud of the work I do — and this blog is where I share the things I’m learning, building, and exploring along the way.
