What is Higgsfield?
Higgsfield is an AI media platform built for creators and teams who need professional-grade visual content fast. It hosts 30+ image and video generation models in one place โ including Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Sora 2, Seedance 2.0, Soul, and Cinema Studio โ covering everything from photorealistic stills to cinematic video clips up to 15 seconds at 4K resolution.
Until recently, using Higgsfield meant working inside its own web UI. That changed in April 2026 when Higgsfield launched its official MCP server, bringing the whole platform directly into Claude.
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard developed by Anthropic that lets AI agents securely connect to external tools and services. Think of it as a plugin system โ but standardised, so any tool that builds an MCP server can be accessed by any MCP-compatible AI client. Claude supports MCP natively, which means once a connector is added, Claude can call that tool’s capabilities directly from chat, without you switching apps.
The Higgsfield MCP Server
Higgsfield’s MCP server is hosted at https://mcp.higgsfield.ai and works with Claude on web, desktop, mobile, and Claude Code. No API key is required โ authentication is handled through your Higgsfield account via OAuth, so setup is genuinely one-click.
Through the connector, Claude gets access to five core tools:
- generate_image โ Text-to-image across 16+ models including GPT Image 2, Soul V2, Flux 2, and Nano Banana Pro. Images up to 4K.
- generate_video โ Convert images or text prompts into video clips up to 15 seconds. Models include Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Sora 2, Seedance 2.0, MiniMax Hailuo, and more.
- create_character โ Train a reusable character (Soul ID) from reference images, keeping a person, model, or product visually consistent across an entire campaign.
- get_generation_status โ Poll the progress of a generation job. Video jobs in particular can take 90 seconds or more, so this keeps Claude in the loop.
- list_characters โ Browse and manage your saved character references.
Claude automatically picks the best model for your brief, but you can also name a specific one if you have a preference.
How to Connect Higgsfield to Claude
Setup takes under two minutes:
- Go to higgsfield.ai/mcp and copy the MCP server URL.
- Open Claude (web or desktop) and go to Settings โ Connectors.
- Click the + icon, choose Add custom connector, name it Higgsfield, and paste the URL.
- Hit Connect โ Claude will redirect you to sign into your Higgsfield account. Approve access and you’re done.
Optional but recommended: in the connector settings, set read and write permissions to Always Allow. This lets Claude act on generation requests without prompting you for approval each time, making the workflow feel seamless rather than gated.
New Higgsfield accounts come with free credits, so you can try your first generations without committing to a paid plan.
For Claude Code Users
If you use Claude Code, setup is a single terminal command:
claude mcp add higgsfield https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcp
Then authenticate via the browser prompt that follows. After that, every Claude Code session has access to the full Higgsfield model roster.
Note: for automated or CI pipelines where you don’t want an interactive OAuth flow, the Higgsfield CLI is a better fit โ it uses long-lived API tokens rather than browser authentication.
What You Can Do With It
Once connected, you just describe what you want in plain English. Claude handles the rest โ interpreting your brief, choosing the right model, writing the generation prompt in the format that model expects, firing the job, and returning the finished asset to your chat.
Some practical examples:
- “Generate a product photo of this mug on a marble countertop, warm morning light, 4:5 ratio for Instagram”
- “Turn this still image into a 10-second cinematic clip with slow push-in and golden hour colour grade”
- “Create a character based on these reference photos, then generate three social posts with her in different outfits”
- “Analyse this YouTube video and give me a prompt to recreate its visual style” โ paste the URL and Claude breaks down the pacing, framing, and shot structure
- “Generate a 15-second product ad from this URL” โ paste an e-commerce link and Claude pulls the details it needs
Pricing
Higgsfield has a free tier with limited credits. Paid plans start at around $49/month (Plus). Image generation is available on free accounts; image-to-video requires at least a Plus subscription.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
- Video jobs take time. Veo and Kling renders can run for 90 seconds or more. If a job is still showing as processing after three minutes, restart the connector and resubmit.
- Model names matter. If you specify a model by name, double-check the spelling โ a typo returns a “model not found” error.
- OAuth token expiry. If the connector stops working, re-authenticating from the Connectors panel usually fixes it immediately.
- Free tier queue priority. Paid users get faster queue position on shared models like Veo and Kling.
Why It’s Worth Adding
Before MCP, generating a campaign’s worth of visual assets meant juggling Midjourney for images, Runway or Kling’s own portal for video, and a separate tool for character consistency. Higgsfield’s MCP connector collapses all of that into a single Claude conversation. You brief it once, Claude orchestrates the generation, and the finished assets come back to chat โ no file transfers, no tab switching, no separate subscriptions to manage.
For anyone already using Claude as their main working environment, this is one of the more immediately useful connectors available right now.
