Jura Origin is the distillery’s entry-level single malt and a perfect introduction to the gentle, maritime character of Isle of Jura whisky. The island of Jura lies off Scotland’s west coast, just across the Sound of Islay from its famous peat-heavy neighbour, yet Jura’s whisky takes a distinctly lighter path. Origin is designed to be accessible and approachable โ a whisky that showcases the house style without demanding anything of the drinker beyond a glass and a few quiet minutes.
Aged in American white oak ex-bourbon casks for a minimum of 10 years and bottled at 40% ABV, Jura Origin delivers a clean and gently sweet profile. The nose is fresh and uncomplicated: vanilla, light caramel, a whisper of fresh sea air, and subtle malt. On the palate it’s smooth and easy-going with flavours of honey, green apple, mild spice, and a delicate coastal quality that reminds you exactly where this whisky comes from. The finish is clean, pleasantly warming, and medium-length.
Jura Origin is a whisky that rewards easy drinking โ the sort of dram you reach for at the end of a long day when you want something comforting and uncomplicated. It works equally well neat, over ice, or lengthened with a little water. And yes, it is very tasty. If you enjoy it, the distillery’s Journey, Superstition, and 10 Year Old expressions are well worth exploring as you go deeper into the range.
