Dead Man’s Fingers is a Cornish spiced rum brand that has carved out a real following since launching in 2015, built on bold flavours, striking branding, and an accessible price point. The original spiced rum is the product that started it all — and it remains one of the more enjoyable spiced rums in its category. The recipe blends Caribbean rum with a selection of natural spices, and the result is warming, generous, and unashamedly fun.
On the nose, Dead Man’s Fingers delivers a pleasing wave of vanilla, cinnamon, and coconut with a hint of sweet oak. The palate is medium-bodied with flavours of toffee, vanilla, warming spice, and a hint of fruit underneath. It’s sweet without being cloying, and the spice is assertive enough to stand up in a cocktail. At 37.5% ABV it’s lighter than some spiced rums but punches above its weight in the flavour department. The finish is warm and spicy with lingering vanilla.
Dead Man’s Fingers works brilliantly with ginger beer and a squeeze of lime — their version of a Rum Mule is a cracking summer drink. It’s also excellent over ice with cola, or as a spiced rum base in a Daiquiri variation. The brand has since expanded into coconut rum, coffee rum, and even tequila — but the original spiced remains the heart of the range. Great value, great fun, and a bottle that won’t hang around for long once opened.
