Notting Hill Amber

Notting Hill Amber is part of a range of beers produced under the Notting Hill label — ales with London postcodes in their DNA and a personality to match. Amber ales sit in an interesting middle ground: richer and more complex than a golden ale, but less dark and heavy than a stout or porter. When they’re done well, they offer a real depth of flavour while remaining very drinkable, and that’s exactly what this one aims for.

Tasting Notes

Notting Hill Amber pours a warm amber-copper colour with a modest off-white head. The nose is malty and inviting — biscuit, a hint of caramel, and some earthy hop character giving it balance. On the palate it’s smooth and medium-bodied: toffee and caramel malt upfront, moderate hop bitterness through the middle, and a clean, gently dry finish. It’s well-balanced and easy to drink without being particularly complex.

Verdict

A solid, reliable amber ale that does exactly what you’d hope — delivers malt character and balance in a sessionable package. Best served at cellar temperature in a pint glass. It’s a good pub beer, the kind you’d be happy to find on tap at your local. Pairs well with roast meats, pub pies, and charcuterie boards. Not revelatory, but consistently enjoyable.
