The Uwell Rafale was a well-regarded sub-ohm tank that attracted attention both for its performance and for the circumstances of its UK availability — UK TDP (Tobacco Products Directive) regulations coming into force in 2017 capped e-liquid containers at 10ml and tank capacity at 2ml, making many popular tanks non-compliant overnight. The flash sale that made the Rafale available at a significant discount was a classic last-chance-to-buy moment before stock disappeared from compliant UK retailers.
The Hardware
The Rafale used a quad-coil design — four coils arranged in a parallel configuration that produced impressive vapour and flavour at relatively low wattages. The large coil surface area meant more e-liquid contact and better flavour extraction, while the parallel arrangement kept the resistance high enough to run on standard regulated mods without requiring very high wattages. Build quality was excellent for the price point — glass tank section, stainless steel construction, and a top-fill design that was genuinely convenient.
Verdict
The Uwell Rafale was a high-quality tank that represented good value even before the flash sale discount. The quad-coil design produced excellent flavour — better than most single or dual-coil alternatives at similar wattages — and the build quality justified the Uwell premium. Picking one up in a TDP clearance sale felt like a smart purchase that subsequent months of use confirmed. A well-made tank from a quality manufacturer, acquired at an opportune moment.
