Edenmill Chilli and Ginger Gin

Edenmill Chilli and Ginger Gin is a genuinely bold and exciting craft gin from Edenmill — a Scottish distillery based in St Andrews, Fife, which has the distinction of being Scotland’s first combined brewery and distillery since 1870. This gin takes the classic botanical base and cranks up the heat with two very assertive additions: Scotch bonnet chillies and ginger root.

The result is a gin that delivers an immediate punch. The nose has the warming, earthy spice of fresh ginger followed quickly by the fruity, fiery heat of the chilli. On the palate the juniper is present but quickly overwhelmed in the best possible way by a slow, building heat and a zesty ginger warmth. The finish lingers long and spicy — this is not a gin for those who prefer something delicate and floral.

Edenmill Chilli and Ginger Gin works brilliantly in a spicy G&T with a quality tonic, ice, and a slice of lime. It also makes an exceptional base for a Spicy Mule — ginger beer, lime, and this gin is a combination that really sings. At 40% ABV it’s approachably bottled but the flavour is anything but shy. A real standout from Scotland’s craft gin scene.
