Arran Blonde

The Isle of Arran Brewery is based in Brodick on Arran, an island off the Ayrshire coast that bills itself as “Scotland in miniature” — and delivers on that promise with mountains, moorland, castle ruins, and a distillery. The brewery was established in 2000 and has built a solid reputation for well-made ales that reflect the island character. Arran Blonde is their lightest and most approachable beer, a golden ale designed to be exactly that.

Tasting Notes

Arran Blonde pours a clear, light golden colour with a delicate white head. The nose is gentle and floral — soft hop character, light grain, and a clean freshness that’s very easy on the nose. On the palate it’s light-bodied and crisp: delicate malt sweetness, floral and herbal hop notes, and a clean, lightly bitter finish. It’s sessionable and unchallenging in the best way — designed to be very easy to enjoy.

Verdict

Serve cold and enjoy with a view if possible — ideally looking out over the Firth of Clyde towards Arran itself. Arran Blonde is a perfect holiday beer: light, refreshing, and good for long summer afternoons. It’s also a great introductory Scottish craft ale for people who find heavier beers intimidating. Pairs well with seafood, salads, or just the pleasure of being somewhere with good scenery.

This picture reminded me of the Arran brewery tour we got lol. I can’t remember if we tried the Fireside beer (think it has a hint of ginger in it).

Totally, I saw it in Tesco and it reminded me of sitting on the bench outside the brewery drinking the beer for lunch and the campfire that night (and missing the ferry the next day ;) )

I forgot about missing the ferry lol. Aye that was a gid packed lunch at the brewery, was well needed even though we had hardly done any cycling at that point. :) Getting the wood for the fire was a bit brutal, heavy jaggy branches!
