In safari, on mountain lion and above, you can switch tabs with a multitouch gesture.
When you have more than one tab open, just pinch as if you were trying to zoom out on a photo in iphoto.
The tabs will turn into a sort of cover flow, and you can swipe left and right to change to a new tab!
