To auto-delete ZIP files after expanding them on a Mac, you can adjust the settings in the built-in Archive Utility.
Steps:
- Open Archive Utility:
- Go to Finder > Applications > Utilities > Archive Utility.
- Alternatively, search for “Archive Utility” using Spotlight (Cmd + Space).
- Access Preferences:
- Once the Archive Utility is open, click Archive Utility in the menu bar, then select Preferences.
- Set Auto-Delete Option:
- In the Preferences window, check the box next to “Delete archive after expanding”.
Once this setting is enabled, any ZIP files you expand using the default Archive Utility will be automatically deleted after extraction.
This option helps keep your Downloads or other folders clean by removing ZIP files once they’re no longer needed. If you’re using a third-party unzipping tool, similar settings may be available depending on the app.
