I gave an AI £100 and asked it to create a business. Day 7

I was inspired by a tweet by @jacksonfall, who is using chatGPT4 to instruct him in building an online business. Here is a full transcript of my attempt on day 7 – content and suppliers again (prompts are in bold, replies are monotype, and my comments are in italic)

day 7:

planning out the days tasks before hand, so I’m not reacting so much :D

  • blog post
  • tweets
  • product descriptions, images, data quality
  • joined the community discord
  • joined a twitter spaces
  • configured google merchant center (uploaded all the products, linked to analytics)
  • signed up to mailchimp and activated the abandoned baskets system and wp plugin
  • Got a product delivered to my house :D

Since this is the end of the first week, I’ve got some things to reflect on. At this stage, I have a fully built and real-world tested wordpress site, it has a load of plugins on it for ecommerce, payment gateways, security, analytics, and supplier automation (automatic adding of products, stock adjustments, processing of orders) I have created a custom wordpress plugin to view ‘current items in isers carts’. I also have a calalogue of products in various categories, with good images and AI generated product descriptions. I have a blog with AI generated content, I have an instagram account and have made a sale. My target for this was to make a sale (I’m not actually counting the sale I made, because it wasnt from a non-connected person on the internet) so at this stage, I think its been pretty successful outcome.

One of the most important ecological benefits of having wild birds visit your garden is that they act as natural pest controllers. Many birds, such as blue tits, wrens, and robins, feed on insects and spiders, which can help control pest populations in your garden. This means you'll need fewer harmful pesticides and insecticides, which is better for the environment and for the health of your garden.

Another ecological benefit of having wild birds in your garden is that they can help with pollination. Birds such as hummingbirds and sunbirds feed on nectar, and as they move from flower to flower, they can transfer pollen, helping to fertilize plants.

You can also use eco-friendly materials when building birdhouses or feeders, such as using sustainably sourced wood or recycled plastic.

One way to encourage birds to visit your garden is to plant native species of plants and trees, which can provide food and shelter for birds. Additionally, providing a bird bath or fountain can give birds a source of water for drinking and bathing.

In conclusion, having wild birds visit your garden can provide several ecological, mental health, and sustainability benefits. By creating a bird-friendly garden, you can help support local wildlife and create a thriving ecosystem that benefits both the environment and your own wellbeing.

please write 300 words on the benefits of building a lamp from natural coconut

Coconut trees are fast-growing and require relatively little water, fertilizer, or pesticides, making them an environmentally friendly choice for harvesting wood. Additionally, using coconuts as a material for lamps is a great way to repurpose waste materials that would otherwise be discarded. Coconut shells are often discarded as waste after the fruit is harvested, but repurposing them for use in lamps helps to reduce waste and promote sustainability.

In addition to being eco-friendly, coconut lamps also offer a unique and natural aesthetic that can help to create a relaxing and soothing atmosphere in any room. The warm, natural tones of the coconut shell can create a cozy and inviting feel, while the unique texture of the material adds visual interest and can make for a great conversation starter.

write 400 words on the benefits of a wooden hamster cage over a plastic hamster cage.

Wooden hamster cages have become increasingly popular among pet owners, and for good reason. These cages provide a range of benefits over plastic ones, both for the pet and the environment. Here are some of the benefits of a wooden hamster cage:

Better ventilation: Wooden cages offer better ventilation compared to plastic cages, which can become stuffy and humid. This is especially important for hamsters, as they are susceptible to respiratory issues.

Durability: Wooden cages are generally more durable and long-lasting than plastic ones. They can withstand scratches and wear and tear, and are less likely to crack or break.

Natural environment: Wooden cages provide a more natural environment for hamsters, as they mimic their natural habitat. This can help reduce stress and anxiety in hamsters, and promote their natural behaviors.

Eco-friendly: Wooden cages are more eco-friendly compared to plastic cages. They are made from sustainable materials and are biodegradable, which means they won’t contribute to plastic waste in the environment.

Customizable: Wooden cages are often customizable, allowing you to add or remove levels, tunnels, and toys as needed. This allows you to create a personalized environment for your hamster that suits their individual needs.

Aesthetically pleasing: Wooden cages offer a more natural and aesthetically pleasing look compared to plastic cages, which can be bulky and unattractive. A wooden cage can blend in seamlessly with your home décor, and provide a unique and beautiful addition to your living space.

till now its been a collection of “generate product descriptions”, I now have plenty – lets see what we have to do next to get them sold.

I now have 27 products on the website. Whats the fastest way to drive traffic to these products and convert this traffic into paying customers?

There are several ways to drive traffic to your website and convert visitors into paying customers. Here are some suggestions:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimize your website for search engines so that your products appear at the top of the search results. Use relevant keywords, write informative product descriptions, and make sure your website is mobile-friendly.

Social Media Marketing: Use social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to promote your products. Post high-quality photos and videos of your products, engage with your followers, and use hashtags to reach a wider audience.

Email Marketing: Build an email list of potential customers and send them regular newsletters with updates and promotions. Use catchy subject lines and personalized content to increase engagement.

Influencer Marketing: Collaborate with social media influencers or bloggers in the pet industry to promote your products. Choose influencers who align with your brand values and have a large following.

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising: Use platforms like Google Ads or Facebook Ads to target potential customers with ads that are relevant to their interests. Set a budget and track your performance to optimize your campaigns.

Customer Reviews: Encourage customers to leave reviews of your products on your website or on other review platforms. Positive reviews can increase trust in your brand and influence other potential customers to make a purchase.

Remember that driving traffic to your website is only the first step. To convert visitors into paying customers, you need to have a clear and easy-to-use website, high-quality products, and excellent customer service.

These are all good suggestions – infact, they are suggestions that I would give to a client

  • SEO will take time, but we have started on that already by adding long product descriptions to each page, and by creating some information based blog posts (and by creating and linking this blog series we should get some benefit)
  • We have started on Social – we have an insta account, and I have my own twitter, and I have this blog-series
  • Influencer Marketing – I doubt the £50 budget would work, but maybe this blog post counts (I hardly count myself as an influencer, but my blog has been about for a long time and does get a decent amount of traffic, so if thats how you measure influence, then maybe?)?
  • PPC ads – this seems like the best route
  • Reviews – have to sell before we get reviews.

do you think google ads or instagram ads would perform better?

Both Google Ads and Instagram Ads can be effective ways to drive traffic to your website and convert visitors into paying customers. However, the effectiveness of each platform may depend on factors such as your target audience, the nature of your products, and your marketing goals.

Google Ads can be particularly effective if you are targeting people who are actively searching for the types of products you offer. With Google Ads, you can create search, display, and video ads that will appear when people search for keywords related to your products or when they visit websites that are relevant to your products. You can also use Google Ads to target specific audiences based on factors such as demographics, interests, and behavior.

On the other hand, Instagram Ads can be effective if you are targeting a younger, more visually-oriented audience or if you want to promote your products through influencer partnerships or user-generated content. Instagram Ads allow you to create ads that appear in users' feeds or stories, and you can target audiences based on factors such as demographics, interests, and behaviors.

Ultimately, the best approach may be to test both platforms and see which one performs better for your specific business and marketing goals. You may also want to consider other marketing channels such as social media, email marketing, and content marketing to supplement your advertising efforts and drive more traffic to your website.

lets see if it will give us a strategy if it pretends to be someone else, and lets see if that aligns with what it said earlier:

Assume the persona of Donald Draper from the TV series Mad Men and propose a media strategy for greenpawsandpetals.co.uk

As Donald Draper, I would propose a media strategy that combines traditional advertising methods with modern digital marketing tactics. Here are some ideas:

Develop a brand message that highlights the unique selling points of Green Paws and Petals, such as its commitment to sustainability and eco-friendliness.

Launch a print advertising campaign in pet-related publications, such as Pet Gazette and Pet Business World. The print ads should feature eye-catching images of the products along with the Green Paws and Petals brand message.

Utilize outdoor advertising such as billboards and bus stop ads in high traffic areas. This can increase brand visibility and reach a wider audience.

Partner with influencers in the pet industry to showcase Green Paws and Petals' products on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. This will help build credibility and trust with potential customers.

Launch a Google AdWords campaign to drive traffic to the website and increase visibility in search engines.

Utilize email marketing to promote new products, special offers, and promotions to existing customers. This will help to increase brand loyalty and repeat purchases.

Attend pet shows and exhibitions to showcase the products and build relationships with customers and industry professionals.

By combining traditional advertising methods with modern digital marketing tactics, we can reach a wider audience and increase brand visibility. The goal is to create a cohesive and consistent message across all channels, and to drive traffic to the website to ultimately convert visitors into paying customers.

HAHAHA, thats awesome. Running print ads and billboards would be great, but I have £59.

Assume the persona of Donald Draper from the TV series Mad Men and propose a media strategy for greenpawsandpetals.co.uk for less than £50

As Donald Draper, my media strategy for greenpawsandpetals.co.uk with a budget of less than £50 would be to focus on creating compelling content that will attract potential customers to the website.

First, I would create a blog post series that provides valuable information to pet owners on how to care for their pets sustainably. The blog post series would focus on topics such as eco-friendly pet products, sustainable pet food, and tips for reducing a pet's carbon footprint. I would also include high-quality images and infographics in the blog posts to make them visually appealing.

Second, I would leverage social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter to share the blog posts and drive traffic to the website. I would also engage with potential customers by following relevant pet-related accounts, commenting on their posts, and using relevant hashtags to increase the reach of our posts.

Third, I would collaborate with other pet-related businesses and bloggers to cross-promote our products and content. This could include guest blogging on other websites, partnering with pet influencers on social media, and offering discounts or promotions for customers who purchase from both businesses.

Overall, my strategy would focus on creating valuable content and building relationships with potential customers through social media and collaborations. With a budget of less than £50, this approach would allow us to establish a strong online presence and drive traffic to the website without spending a lot on advertising.
