West Highland Way Day 7 – Kingshouse to Kinlochleven.
We woke up at about 8. We got packed and went for breakfast in the cafe. Trippler rolls: I had square sausage, bacon and tattie scone, Zoe had square sausage, tattie scone and a fried egg (and a mars bar). We got packed lunches (can of juice, chocolate bar, bag of crisps, sandwich and bit of fruit) and dropped our bags at the bag colletion point. We set off at about 10.
We past the Kingshouse hotel and started climbing. And climbing and climbing. At about 1 we got to the top of the devils staircase and took a few photos. We only stopped once, about halfway up for a can of lilt.
The descent took ages but we arrived at Kinlochleven at bang on 3 in the bright sunshine.
We are camping tonight, so are going to put the tent up and go for a beer. I’m glad we chose this as our West Highland Way Day 7 – Kingshouse to Kinlochleven was a good wee walk.
We are staying in the campsite at the MacDonald hotel, it is a brilliant wee spot, on the banks of Loch Leven. they have a ‘bothy bar’ and great beer!
We sat and spoke to Tam the local for a few hours about the west highland way then went for a wee snooze.
After our snooze in the sauna (the tent was the hottest I’ve ever been in) we went for dinner: pint of ‘trade winds’ and a sparkling water and a venison lasagne and beer battered fish and chips (they do sticky toffee pudding too)
After dinner we will probably crash out from the beer – Zoe had two 500ml bottles earlier :D
