This post will show you how to stop iphoto from opening when you plug your iphone or ipad into your mac

plug in your iphone / ipad

open Applications > Image Capture
in the left hand side, under devices, you will see your device.

if you select that device (click on it) then in the bottom left you will see the application that opens when the device is connected.

simply pick ‘no application’ and nothing will open when your device is connected!
